A challenge to start the year, “ride every day” – I didn’t read about it until [2014-01-02 Thu] and thought I was immediately disqualified, but the person laying down the challenge said it started from [2014-01-04 Sat] so I took him up on it. Made it a whole 15 days before reality intervened in the form of a trip away to visit family. Sunday seems to be my day of rest, the rest is mostly made of my short commute and trips to the shops, with a few more interesting rides thrown in. The other challenge is my annual goal of 5200km, one I’ve struggled to meet for the last .

This year for the first time in a while I came very close to making my goal – one last ride on New Year’s Eve had me within striking distance. Depending on whether you rely on Garmin or Strava, I seem to have made 5128km, only around 70km short.

Commute to work every day, shopping or a social ride on Saturday, then often no riding on a Sunday, that seems to be how the year played out. Longest number of days in a row that I rode was 20, which I hit a few times. Rode on 293 of the 365 days of the year, 226 of those days were commuting to work. Since it’s a short commute, the rides home can be quite varied, depending on domestic commitments.
