This is being typed from memory in my spare time and I haven’t finished writing it so….
Jo and I get up bright and early (ugh) and catch the 7:50 train into the city. The nominal assembly time is 8am for an 8:30 departure but experience has shown that the Deadly Treadly tours never leave until well after 9. Walking across the river I looked down to discover that I had just left a trail of money along the path as my weekend’s spending money jumps out of my pocket. Twice more before we get to the buses it did this until I finally fold the notes up and stuff them inside my key holder!
There was the usual stuffing around with packing all the bikes into the cattle trucks, loading the bags into the coaches and we leave around 9:30. What with a blowout in a rear tyre on our bus and long-weekend traffic, it was after 1pm when eventually arrived at Apollo Bay.
I guess there must have been cycling, somehow we got from Apollo Bay to Lorne where we forgoed the pleasures of camping and stayed at the family holiday house
