Proving that I’m repeatably stupid :-). For the second year in a row I rode around Port Philip Bay (210km), this time Jo and I managed to wake up early enough to get to the start for 5:30, she dropped me off then sensibly went home to bed. I rode clockwise this time, reaching Sorrento at 8:56 — just in time to catch the 9am ferry, sat in the open having lunch on the ferry, occasionally shivering as a large wave sent a shower of spray across the deck. Queenscliff to Geelong was very draining, straight into a gusty head-wind, dodging showers, then from Geelong back to Melbourne we had the benefit of the tail-wind (or three-quarter tail-wind) most of the way. Rode in the gate at 2:10 and collected my first ever Audax certificate (I was too late to register for last years!)
