Family ride up to Wandiligong after the worst of the heat had passed, off to investigate what has happened to the very rundown Wandiligong Hedge Maze – sure enough it had closed, but luckily it has now reopened as a new business, “5 Acres”. The hedge itself has been bulldozed and some of the rest of the gardens revitalised.
A quick look around then off alongside Morses creek to the Chinese heritage bridge, then follow a dirt track along the creek until it almost got back to the road, ending at a closed off property and a sign telling you to go away. Retrace out route and as the rains started sped along to the pub. Nothing better than a quiet beer in the beergarden of the Wandy pub… until a text from friends says that a dozen are arriving by bike & car from Bright and it’ll be a noisy second and third beer. A noisy and perhaps beer-assisted group ride back to Bright for dinner.
