Suburban loop to drop off some oranges, a mix of bike paths and roads, Scotchmans creek track, Glen Waverley line track, Gardiners creek track, Anniversary track and Djerring trail interspersed with roads where necessary, and closes passes, as the new road rule 144A seems to be purely ornamental, neither obeyed nor enforced
Coming home up Sycamore street one driver managed to get within 30cm of me, squeezing between me and the parked cars on either side of the road, then lost the plot and screamed abuse when I caught him at the end of the street. Didn’t seem to mind that he could hit me and was well under a metre, but when I suggested he could lose a mirror coming that close got spectacularly angry
On top of that I fell foul of VicRoads’ idiot design traffic lights at the Darling road / Dandenong road intersection. Left lane has a bike lane in it, and a large forward bike box, but at the traffic lights there’s a separate light for the bikes, it goes green with the car light, but goes red five or more seconds before. When the bike light goes red you’ve got a choice of ride through with the still moving cars – and get hooted at and abused – or stop and run the risk of being flattened by drivers doing 60km/hr in the same lane as you who have a green light!
