Waited until the optimal time for a break in the rain & headed out for the day’s entertainment. Down through Oakleigh to the creek… the stormy full creek. Could have just about gone white-water kayaking under the rakali bridge. Strangely few other people around, not a soul to be seen until I got to the golf course, arriving just as three hardy types ran off the green and under some trees because, of course, it had just decided to start hailing. Over the Solway bridge to the start of the Anniversary trail in the hail, then up to Ashburton as it eased off to rain.
Turn off onto Ferndale track and a very muddy slippery ride back down to the creek, thankfully almost no dog walkers. The path was completely flooded at the sports oval, I detoured around while kids in gumboots had a splash.
Back onto Gardners Creek track and past roadworks at Muswell Bend, amazingly a huge slippery steel plate has been placed in the bike path to cover some works! Incredibly slippery and near criminal. Then a quick half lap of the Glen Iris wetlands, up through Hegeley Dene to Carnegie and home along the Djerring trail… and hose off the bike
Would have been a solid 8/10 apart from the two incredibly frustrating phone calls I had to stop to take, a courier was trying to deliver a parcel to our house and was unable to find the house, and couldn’t understand when I explained where it was. Two calls, three minutes each, ten minutes apart. Finally delivered only when I msg’d Jo and got her to walk outside & hunt for the courier!
