Cold and grey, although there was no wind and the sun came out on the way home, so overall quite enjoyable.
Around a big block, up to Murrumbeena and south until…. South road. Turn into South road, get to Karkarook park and have a partial lap of the lake, then sneak off a bit too far south along the gravel path towards Heatherton. Stopped for my daily photo alongside a large and imposing prickly pear and was promptly punished by the gods - I hadn’t realised that the handlebars brushed the prickles, and the prickles all broke off and stuck in the bar tape and brake hoods. Five minutes later they’d worked their way backwards through my gloves and I had to spend a few minutes standing at the side of the path cursing and pulling prickles out of bars, gloves and fingers. Yes, it was a prickly pair, both the bike and me
Home almost straight north, including the sneaky gravel road from Oakleigh South Primary to the golf course then up the shiny newly resurfaced Haughton road - still a bit of a nightmare due to the “traffic calming infrastructure”, but with a lovely smooth new hotmix surface.
