Down to the bay then back upstream; Port Phillip Bay, Yarra River, Gardiners Creek, Scotchmans Creek and home
Inkterman street through Caulfield and St Kilda is always a bit of a hassle, I’m not sure if the drivers are extra obnoxious because its proposed to make a protected bike lane from the bay to Caulfield along it, or if the bike lane is being proposed because the drivers are so obnoxious. The “metre passing” law is a joke, a Caulfield-St-Kilda metre seems to be about 30-50cm if you’re lucky
Around to Port Melbourne and out to the far end of Webb dock was interesting, I hadn’t been out that way for years… perhaps not since the Life Saving Victoria building was built, I certainly can’t remember it. Fascinating footpath out to the far end of the point where you can then watch the huge container cranes at work. Back to Life Saving Vic. for a coffeeneuring cappuccino, luckily arriving two minutes before they closed for the day!
Wind my way around through the paths under the Westgate bridge through Westgate park, not really sure where they’re going since the vegetation seems quite thick and the paths twist and turn - at one point I was sure I’d end up heading back out to the south but instead I found the punt jetty and the path then continued on up towards the city. Ugliness once it got to the city, a disconnected mish-mash of bike paths, bike lanes and no bike lane, mixed in with “bike path ends” and “no pedestrian access” signs just when you’d got off the road onto a path. Ended up being funneled up into the city, then further around the CBD due to road closures for the metro tunnel. Finally got back out to the east and up the Yarra and creeks to home
