A Monday, a hot day, an RDO in January. Everyone’s gone away to the beach or the bush, Melbourne very quiet & less than a handful of people on the bike paths. The Garmin says 35°C, the forecast said 29°C so I find an empty playground to sit in the shade under a tree for a while
Quietly enjoyable lap around the loop, only spoiled as I waited to turn right across Waverley road. Ten or twelve drivers passed me on my left without any problems, then Karen from East Malvern pulled up alongside in her big white SUV, blasting on the horn and wound the window down to tell me in no uncertain terms that I should get off the road, I should NOT be waiting legally on the right to turn right, all for my own safety of course. Perhaps she should care more about her driving, her attitude, and her knowledge of the Victorian road rules…
Something strange happened with the Garmin at the start, the time hadn’t synchronised so it thought I started at 14:44. Ride now trimmed by eye at the real start time - around 15:39
