North out of the uni and along the bike path to Scotchmans Creek trail, looks like the path under the freeway is finally being cleared of all the site sheds and protective works from the freeway widening. Into the cool along the creek, through the wet & muddy tunnel under the freeway and up and over the hill to cross Stanley avenue and into Huntingdale wetlands. Bloke in a ute goes howling through the give-way sign, well over 50km/hr and not a chance he’d have seen me or slowed so I eased off and went across behind him at around 15km/hr, nearly getting cleaned up by the SUV coming up the hill that drove across in front of me on the crossing. I yelled & stopped, bizarrely, the SUV kept on going but the bloke in the ute stopped past the bottom of the hill, half got out and started screaming abuse back up at me that I deserved to get hit “for f’ing speeding”
The great aussie mentality that a car driving at 50km/hr through a give-way sign is “ok” but the cyclist doing 15km/hr who has right of way is speeding and deserves to be driven into
