Headed out on a wonderfully warm lazy spring afternoon without much of an idea where I was going, initial thoughts were to get to the end of the Djerring trail and consider my options… circumstances had other ideas
I’ve been meaning to check the brake pads ever since we got back from the very wet and gritty few days touring in Gippsland, but of course hadn’t got around to it – and I have great difficulty in seeing the pads inside the calipers. Of course this meant that they really had worn well past replacement time, so with a horrible crunch I stopped at Clayton, took them out and winced, then rode carefully back to the local bike shop with no front brakes and forked over $30 for a new pair and installed them on the spot
North east up the Gardiners creek path to Blackburn lake and a meander around that, then across the suburb and most of the way back on the Pipeline track. Another left turn, off east through Glen Waverley and down to Jells Park where I stopped for a coffee for my contribution to “International CoffeeOutside day” – a thermos of hot water & the nanoespresso made for a passable brew
Not quite enough time to go all the way down the creek to Yarraman so the trip home was on the mixed bag that is the Wellington road bike paths
