An afternoon ride after three hours of volunteer work counting cyclists on the Djerring trail this morning. The morning went from warm, sunny and still to clouded over and force-seven winds, then a little light rain, so clearly my altruism had got the better of me!
Down to Gardiners Creek, around to the Ferndale Trail and up to join the Anniversary trail, then onwards until it meets the Yarra and turn off for a lap of the Boulevard. Added degree of difficulty at the Richmond end with the Walmer street bridge out of action so some detours around through the fancy parts of Hawthorn before crossing the river to Richmond and calling in for a quiet beer at the Royston. Interesting mix in that part of Richmond from 20yrs ago when I was in the area, some big changes in the huge number of five-six storey apartment buildings, some untouched older streets of single-fronted houses and run-down old businesses. After the beer a quiet ride back to Gardiners Creek and home upstream along the trail
