Windy Sunday morning down to the bay and around. Decided the best thing for it was to head out straight into the wind, followed the Rosstown Railtrail down through the suburbs to Elsternwick. Yay, the City of Glen Eira has redone the signage so at last people have a fighting chance of being able to follow the Rosstown route as it uses backstreets most of the way and doesn’t have a decided footpath or bike path. You still have to cross two main roads mid-block, so it’s still not easy.
From Elsternwick down through Elwood to the bay, then since I’d could see the large solar system sculpture up ahead I decided to ride along the planets, taking a photo at each one. First up Proxima Centauri and then the sun, then I managed to miss mercury because it is so close and on the wrong side of the path. Found all the rest, slogging along into the wind and stopping at each for a photo, then eventually up around Port Melbourne I failed to find pluto, I know its there somewhere since I’ve started at that end previously
Around Port Melbourne and Fishermans Bend, industry all quiet on a weekend, scattered showers and strong winds until I was back at the Docklands apartments, then hooked around and followed the 109 light rail route back down to the bay. More rain, then more sun, then more wind, back through side streets to St Kilda and home up Inkerman street, around Caulfield racecourse and the length of Neerim road
