No escaping it, scattered showers all day so I was guaranteed to get wet.
Out the gate and up the street past the traffic management person sitting warm in her ute, eyes glued on her phone as they have been all day. Off through Oakleigh and Oakleigh East down to the creek, then back towards the west parallel with Scotchmans Creek trail but on the streets a bit further up the hill – a pair of secateurs today’s #roadsidefind as I passed the golf course
Then onwards down Scotchmans Creek to the Glen Iris wetlands, wave to the ducks and head back home up the hill to Carnegie and back along the Djerring trail. Poath road shops are still being demolished, the front wall along the street is pretty much all that remains
Back into the street and once again past the traffic management sitting in her car, eyes glued on her phone ignoring the traffic she’s managing. She must have caught sight as I passed as she blasted on the horn then yelled, which I ignored as I was at our gate by then. She leapt out of the ute slamming the door, quite clearly saying “f*cking bikes” under breath, so I turned and told her very clearly “DO NOT, say f*cking bikes to me’ At this point she realised I lived here, started to half apologize, claimed she hadn’t said anything and got back in her ute. I walked through the gate to assorted apologies from the guys on the worksite, who were also muttering about her having sat in their all day not paying attention
Fun and games, they’ve just about finished pouring concrete at the rebuilt crossing, I wonder what remains for the rest of the six weeks of the crossing being closed? Shame that they seem to have ignored the option of making it easy to ride from the road onto the path and have once again funneled everyone through the tiny footpath gate and along our neighbour’s driveway
