After yesterday’s introduction to the borrowed bike I took it out for a bit more of a decent loop around today – first swapping out the pedals for the ones I brought with me, not 100% sure that the ones on the bike were the exact same SPD style and I was having troubles with my shoes yesterday
Out for a 20km loop, keeping an eye on the time, the sun, and the map. I wasn’t sure quite where I was going and although the route looked ok, was aware that I was in unfamiliar territory with unfamiliar drivers
Some fantastic views, some great scenery, some ridiculously steep hills and a desperate need for that lowest sprocket on the rear. Hardly any drivers passed, and of those that did all of them passed safely and wide … all except one, of course. There has to be one, and heading back into town the local taxi driver went tearing past in his van less than half a metre out from my elbow on a completely empty road
