Third ride for the day, and for those not familiar with my history, Norky bike was my MTB from late 1996 to around 2014, since then it has sat in the shed or donated parts
The youngster has outgrown the old medium 26" MTB that had been canibalized and pieced together from bikes and bits in the shed. Time to do the obvious; dust off what remains of Norky bike and do more frankenstein-zombie work, rebuild this, move that over from there, oddly enough, the front wheel is now back on the original frame from 1996 – separated by the bike’s fourth set of forks – I think. New owner seems pleased, happy at how light and twitchy it is. First ride was up to the Carnegie bike shop for bar grips – evil sticky once-was-pink rubber remnants needed to go. Also grabbed a new bell for Jo’s MTB and a replacement track pump as the old BBB one no longer grips valves and cannae be fixed
Comments during the ride back home, “I’ve been for two rides today on two different bikes” … “Yes, and you had to dismantle the first bike to build the second, not an everyday occurrence”
