Went out for a longer ride today, longest since my crash. First bit was the easy bit, Djerring trail to Yarraman, then down the Eastlink trail and Dandenong Creek trail to the bay. The Bangholme poo farm was particularly redolent in the sun today
Tried to come back roughly following a route I’d seen a Strava contact use, crossed with whatever Google Maps seemed to come up with – although that was a bit of a mixed bag. First part from the bay inland to the freeway was good, an amazing number of offroad paths through parks and waterways, but once we got to the freeway the directions were … mixed …
Riding along perfectly good bike paths parallel with the freeways and I was getting constant verbal prompts “In 200m merge with Mordialloc Freeway”, despite there being a 4m high steel wall between us, and the bike path continuing on in the direction it wanted me to go! That and the interminable “GPS signal lost” with a clear blue sky and no trees and I’m once again questioning my sanity at ever asking Google Maps for cycling directions
Hot and sunny, didn’t drink enough, didn’t eat enough, was well pleased to get home
