Why do i always get lost when i try and follow the capital trail once i get to alphington? Crap signage doesn’t help! Tried for the Anniversary trail/Outer Circle trail up and around the city to come back in at Docklands. Blissfully cool on the Anniversary, under trees, through old railway cuttings and under bridges, then out into the heat of exposed paths along high-trafficed roads. Eventually made it, but every time I cross the river I lose the path and ended up guessing and heading vaguely west then rejoining paths. There’s an amazing number of people riding around in the inner north though, even on a hot day like today
The second half, home from the city, included riding through the CBD, down Swanston street/walk/tram-route, then the new separated bike lane all the way to St Kilda … not quite completely, there are still a few sections where it rudely throws you out into narrowed-off building-works mixed with aggressive drivers, but overall seems pretty good. The rest of the trip home was Inkerman street and Djerring trail, back into known territory
