Amusing, I’ve got a PB on a segment i didn’t ride! Stayed east of the Frankston line but ‘ol segment-matcher thinks i went through the underpass and down the west side. Other segment oddities, the ride summary says I have three “segment events”, one each gold, silver and bronze. The ride details lists the segment I didn’t ride as the gold, another one as the bronze, but has no reference to the silver. One says 3 segments, one says 2. Makes me wonder how accurate some of the other things are that they say!
I did get to use my outside voice though, crossing Grange road at the lights, the lights for Grange went orange, then red, ours went green, I started across and old mate in his Lancer came screaming around the corner from Dandenong road, saw that Grange was clear and planted his foot … then saw the red light and very nearly collected me. Wik-wik-wik as the anti-lock brakes did their job and one very white-faced Lancer driver stopped and waved apologetically to me
Then more oddities, riding down Leamington crescent towards Neerim road there’s most of a building site fence still across the track, but with sections missing. Still a few signs saying “Under construction”, but lots of tyre tracks around them. Rode through and got to Neerim road where there is no fence and you come back out in a completed piece of shared-path construction that’s open! So only closed at one end, another fine piece of Level-Crossing Removal Authority work
