Great weather for a ride; warm, still & sunny as I left work, then down under the freeway into the shadows and the cool along the creek. Perfect part of late afternoon to dusk where the temperature difference between the cool air pooling along the creek and the warm air higher up the hill in the sun was very noticeable
Nearly brought a Jack Russell home with me, idiot owner on a skateboard had it on a 5m extender-leash, dog raced off across the path to attack another dog being walked on a legal leash and nearly hoiked its owner backwards off his deck. Bit of a brisk stop to avoid tangling the entire mess around the bike and dragging both of them off with me
Odd bit of infrastructure further on in the wetlands; there’s a stretch of path with boom gates at either end that can be closed “for maintenance”. For unknown reasons one of the gates is currently closed and locked, so if you’re heading west you go around a gentle curve, up the hill into the setting sun, then have to spot the low black gate across the path, of course there’s no warning signs or reflectors on that side because its only meant to be closed along with the other one!
