Second day of three, the plan was to ride out to the end of the Skipton rail-trail then back to Snake Valley
First order of the day was the stretch south and over the hills to Linton to rejoin the trail, a glance at the map had us choose the dirt road through the forest and by sheer chance stumble upon the firefighters memorial to the volunteers who died here a few years ago in a bushfire. Sobering reminder of the fires in the forests
Down to Linton and a stunningly good bacon and egg roll and coffee, then off along the railtrail, skirting the north of the town, climbing gently. Down into Skipton was through canola fields in bloom, then a sadly closed up end of trail, desperately needing someone to reopen the pub, a cafe, a shop
A little bit of exploring in the town, then back much the same way we’d come along the trail to Linton, and back up and over the hills through the forest home to Snake Valley – using the main sealed road, same as yesterday afternoon
