Seems ages since I’ve ridden up the hill to Benwerrin, my fitness means it isn’t enjoyable, and the ever increasing traffic of ever less tolerant drivers in ever larger SUVs means … it isn’t enjoyable. Still, there didn’t seem much traffic today, I suspect people had gone home because of the rain in the morning, so off I went on a bit of an expedition – the well know loop up the Deans Marsh road, across the Mount Sabine road and down past Erskine Falls back to town
Made it up the Deans Marsh hill under wet grey skies, but no rain, then foggy at the top. Was just stating to think it’d be foggy all the way to the falls when the wall of icy rain hit. Cleared the fog dropped the temperature, so just wet and 4-5°C all the way through the forest
Muddy and cold all the way along the top, breath fogging ahead of me. A few interesting small birds dashed across, but too small and quick for identification. Two large and woolly kangaroos watched from a paddock
The brakes got a workout on the run back down to Lorne, I took it easy, not wanting to find one of the large pieces of tree bark or leafy branches as I was half way around a corner
Hard work, probably type II fun
