Half an hour or so out in the late afternoon sun, a break while working at home. Off on the #fixie} along the Djerring trail up towards Caufield, but with an arbitrarily chosen detour up to Boyd park and back – always feeling oddly annoyed when it’s school hours and there’s a lollipop person on the Neerim road crossing. Any other time of day and you just ride straight across when there’s a break in the traffic, during “controlled hours” it makes you feel like a five year old having to wait for the hi-vis flag bearer to step out and blow the whistle
Nearly to Caulfield, down alongside the rail line to Neerim road, back in a straightish line home. That Neerim road bike lane really is appalling, especially in any kind of peak traffic
