Two echidnas, assorted bird life, lots of cows and a few roos. Grey and overcast skies, with scattered showers most of the way
Having driven up to Yea we had lunch in a bakery, then went and parked at the start of the #GVRT, got changed and loaded up the bikes … err, my bike. As with the other family rail trail trips I have the panniers and rack bags, the other two a light weight back each, between the three of us that covers clothes and essentials for a few nights, credit-card touring and staying in motels, cabins and a farmstay B&B
Grey and a bit damp, not many other people out on the rail trail, although we did meet a group of half a dozen all stopped while a puncture was dealt with
Cheviot tunnel a highlight, very dark with just the bike headlights, then out and down the other side to the plains around the Goulburn river and start the climbs towards Alex.
We were swooped a few times, but they always seem to go for Jo and her red helmet, regardless of whether she’s last of the three or not
That last long descent into Alexandra is always fun, arriving late in the afternoon with plenty of time to find the motel then make our way back to the pub for drinks and dinner
