The primary riding mission for today had been accomplished, I’ve re-ridden my school commutes, my legs – and arse – were a bit weary from the past few days, and it was getting hot, so I wasn’t really in the mood to revisit more of Canberra than I had to
One more chore was to visit a bike shop and get a third bidon, and cage, as I’d been running low on water between towns, so it was off to Belconnen and circle around to “Bike Culture”, then fit the cage while sheltering from the increasingly hot sun. A fill up of iced water was a nice touch, thanks guys
Down to the lake, a coffee overlooking the water, then a lazy lap before heading back to Lyneham. Of course I was just in the midst of admiring the bike path signage and ease of following the routes when … I managed to get lost and had to circle around a few streets and consult Google Maps somewhere in the back of the AIS. Some parts of the bike path network never change! Then it was back towards central Canberra, stop for another phone call, lose my sunglasses and circle back a few hundred metres, searching without success, only to find that they’d fallen off my front bag and wedged in around the brake cables!
A lazy meandering ride, I’ll have to leave revisiting other parts of Canberra for another day, today I need a nap, and tomorrow I’m leaving …
