Stretching the legs and getting out of the house between family Christmas meal commitments, a gentle loop around the suburbs and a bit of an explore of a pocket between Waverley Road and the freeway, quiet suburban houses, but with the ever present roar of freeway traffic heard over the sound barrier wall

An odd mix of completely empty smaller streets, no people out anywhere, and heavy traffic on the main roads as people drive from one Christmas commitment to another

The new “protected bike lane” from the Djerring Trail to Scotchmans Creek Trail was meant to be complete by November 30, err, stage one anyway, halfway, from the Djerring Trail to Dandenong Road. Then November 30 came and went, then the council assured me that it would be completed by Christmas. Well here is Christmas and yesterday they removed the bollards and barricades so I guess technically you can ride along it, although it ends arbitrarily at the Atherton Road intersection where the path vanishes before and after the intersection because the connection and new lights will still be months away
