North to Scotchmans Creek Trail – pausing only to reattach a load precariously balanced on the pizza rack, then down the creek past the wetlands, acknowledging that today is World Wetlands Day. Detour up to the post office to collect a parcel, some new tyres with a bit more tread than the worn down ones currently on the bike, and a free gift of a handlebar bag … a teeny tiny handlebar bag looking like something to attach to a childs’ toy or to hold an innertube and neatly folded muesli bar. The free gift is worth precisely what I paid for it
