Started out on a fairly routine loop; with the intention to follow the Scotchmans Creek Trail out to Jells park, then down Dandenong Creek Trail to Dandenong, coming back along the Djerring Trail. Detours abounded and along the way I finally explored some part of the Police Paddocks – I can’t believe in all these years I’ve never ridden off into them and have only ever seen the access roads in crossing. I guess some part of the name put me off – I just had mental images of paddocks of horses, in reality I was winding my way up and down single track through the bush and scrub. I even managed to find an historic cairn with one of those metal plaques telling you the distance to various points of interest – except it was a couple of hundred metres off in a paddock, hidden behind some trees and a fair way from the end of the access road!
