Not at all where I’d intended to be riding today – we were supposed to go to Hanging Rock but someone got sick, so off I went to the east. Known paths to Dandenong, then meandered my way up Eumemerang Creek and Hallam Creek, with a bit of intervening roads. Parts of the Hallam Creek trail are very very flat and it feels as though you’re riding along a dyke through a swamp
Had trouble finding a coffee and eventually made my way to a cafe on the outside of a mall in Casey – good coffee but a rather unpleasant sloppy almond croissant overflowing with … “goo”. Then it was straight east towards the bay and up alongside the freeway most of the way home. One amusing spot somewhere in Bangholme, the off road path I was following along the north side of the road abruptly ended, and became an on-road bike lane on the far side of the road. Perhaps when built one could simply cross the road … but now there are two large stretches of armco railing, so you either have to ride across two lanes of traffic and lift the bike up, or do as I did and retrace your route to the nearest intersection
