There’s a very Aussie bit of carbrain that says, if I’ve crashed, or broken down and I need to stop, I can either; pull over on the road and partially block “the traffic”, or I can drive up onto the bike path and completely block the bike path. One of these is a completely reasonable thing for the aussie driver, one is anathema
Yes, I met a massive Landcruiser towing a trailer that had been driven into and parked inside the “safe, separated bike lane” because “I’m FUC*ING FIXING SOMETHING YA C*NT” … and I couldn’t possibly stop or park anywhere else. He took exception to me saying “You’re not supposed to park here” as I passed, and after driving flat out up the first block inside the bike path, passed me further up the hill on the horn and shouting out the window
