Ah, I’ll stop here because there’s a muppet on a huge delivery “bicycle” riding down the middle, helmetless, head-down and staring into and chatting loudly into his phone on the handlebars. OI! He looks up, stops, smiles and nods

Fifty metres up the road, a queue of cars is waiting to merge from the service lane to Dandenong Road – and queued across the contra-flow bike lane as always. One driver sees me and inches forward to make room, but the driver behind is having none of that, immediately pulls up to leave less than 10cm between their bumpers
