Third day of a long weekend, third day in a row riding down the GOR to Wye River or Kennet River. A morning ride today, and with the rest of the family rather than afternoon alone. As usual we saw many more cyclists at this time of day, I rarely see any in the afternoons
Lovely mist rising up from the breakers and drifting up the cliffs, morning sun and surfers at every break
The cafe at Wye River is still closed from the floods in January, but the pub is – quietly – serving coffees from their function room. Coffee and a spectacular view, then back towards Lorne, taking care on the descent down towards Cumberland River as the roads are wet, there’s plenty of debris near the edges from the 200+ mm of rain last week, and one of us crashed on this descent previously …
All safe this time, and on back to Lorne where one final bit of entertainment was Jo making it through the caravan park, up the steep and hill gravel driveway back to the road, then snapping her chain and falling off! There was a loud shriek, a muffled thud, and I turned to see her lying on the ground. Seems that the quick-link had separated, hopefully a one-off as its never happened to any of us previously. Thankfully only a hundred metres from the house, a case of “I’ll walk from here”
